  1  3 A Resolution to recognize Dennis Clark and his
  1  4    associates for their service to wounded veterans
  1  5    of the Iraq war.
  1  6    WHEREAS, Clark and Associates Prosthetics and
  1  7 Orthotics is located in Waterloo, Iowa, and is a
  1  8 leader in the field of orthotics and prosthetics; and
  1  9    WHEREAS, owner Dennis Clark took over the company
  1 10 in 1987 and over the years has revolutionized the
  1 11 orthotics and prosthetics industry; and
  1 12    WHEREAS, when the number of wounded American
  1 13 soldiers with lower limb amputations began to increase
  1 14 as a result of the Iraqi insurgency, the Walter Reed
  1 15 Army Medical Center turned to the company for
  1 16 assistance; and
  1 17    WHEREAS, when Walter Reed administrators wanted to
  1 18 get wounded soldiers up and moving as quickly as
  1 19 possible, Mr. Clark and his associates stepped up to
  1 20 the challenge to make those soldiers whole again; and
  1 21    WHEREAS, for 18 months, Mr. Clark and his
  1 22 associates, Matt Hutchings, Andrew Steele, John
  1 23 Costello, and Dean Sturch, have shuttled between
  1 24 Waterloo, and the Walter Reed Army Medical Center,
  1 25 meeting and measuring patients and sending information
  1 26 back to Waterloo, allowing patients to test their
  1 27 prosthetics within a week's time; and
  1 28    WHEREAS, the unique needs of the younger, more
  1 29 athletic soldiers have challenged the expertise of Mr.
  1 30 Clark and his associates to develop and test new
  2  1 concepts in prosthetics design; and
  2  2    WHEREAS, the goal of the company is "to set the
  2  3 worldwide standard for the highest quality products
  2  4 and the fastest service to our clients and their
  2  5 patients", and that goal has been far exceeded by the
  2  6 dedicated service provided to America's wounded
  2  7 soldiers; NOW THEREFORE,
  2  8    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
  2  9 That the House of Representatives thanks Dennis Clark,
  2 10 Matt Hutchings, Andrew Steele, John Costello, and Dean
  2 11 Sturch and all of the employees of Clark and
  2 12 Associates Prosthetics and Orthotics for their service
  2 13 in the rehabilitation of wounded soldiers and for
  2 14 showing the nation that the spirit of selfless public
  2 15 service is alive and well in Iowa.
