  1  1                HOUSE RESOLUTION NO.    
  1  2          BY  EICHHORN, KURTENBACH, and GRANZOW
  1  3 A Resolution to honor Ed Lorenzen for his acts of
  1  4    bravery and service to his fellow Iowans.
  1  5    WHEREAS, Iowans are known for being a concerned and
  1  6 caring people; and
  1  7    WHEREAS, Ed Lorenzen, who has lived and farmed east
  1  8 of Randall, Iowa, for 75 years, embodies those
  1  9 qualities; and
  1 10    WHEREAS, in February 2005, Mr. Lorenzen was having
  1 11 a morning cup of coffee when he heard the loud crash
  1 12 of a car accident as a vehicle left the roadway, hit a
  1 13 field driveway, flew approximately 120 feet, crashed,
  1 14 and began to burn; and
  1 15    WHEREAS, Mr. Lorenzen did not know the New
  1 16 Providence, Iowa, driver, but knew he had to act; and
  1 17    WHEREAS, Mr. Lorenzen left his home and rushed to
  1 18 aid the unconscious driver; and
  1 19    WHEREAS, at great risk and with no regard for his
  1 20 own safety, Mr. Lorenzen approached the burning
  1 21 vehicle, hoisted the unconscious driver through a
  1 22 broken window, and saved the young driver's life; NOW
  1 23 THEREFORE,
  1 24    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
  1 25 That the House of Representatives thanks Ed Lorenzen
  1 26 for his lifesaving work and the example he has set for
  1 27 all Iowans.
