House Resolution 34 - Introduced PAG LIN 1 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 1 2 BY ALONS, BAUDLER, DE BOEF, and CHAMBERS 1 3 A Resolution supporting the passage of the federal 1 4 Citizens' Self=Defense Act of 2005. 1 5 WHEREAS, the Second Amendment to the United States 1 6 Constitution states that: "A well=regulated Militia, 1 7 being necessary to the security of a free State, the 1 8 right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not 1 9 be infringed."; and 1 10 WHEREAS, the proposed Citizens' Self=Defense Act of 1 11 2005 has been introduced into the 109th Congress as 1 12 House Resolution 46 in order to support that 1 13 constitutional right; and 1 14 WHEREAS, the proposed legislation reaffirms the 1 15 premise that citizens have a right to use a firearm in 1 16 defense of self, family, and home; and 1 17 WHEREAS, the proposed legislation would also allow 1 18 persons whose self=defense rights have been violated 1 19 to bring legal action against the person or entity 1 20 violating such rights, including the United States or 1 21 any state of the United States, in federal court; NOW 1 22 THEREFORE, 1 23 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, 1 24 That the House of Representatives requests that the 1 25 members of the 109th Congress promptly enact the 1 26 Citizens' Self=Defense Act of 2005; and 1 27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this 1 28 Resolution be sent to the members of Iowa's 1 29 congressional delegation. 1 30 LSB 3505HH 81 2 1 jr:nh/gg/14 1
