  1  2        BY  WESSEL=KROESCHELL, HEDDENS, D. OLSON,
  1  3                     and KURTENBACH
  1  4 A Resolution honoring the Iowa State University football
  1  5    team and Coach Dan McCarney for their successful
  1  6    season and victory at the Independence Bowl.
  1  7    WHEREAS, the Iowa State University Cyclones
  1  8 football team finished its 2004=2005 season with seven
  1  9 wins and played in the Independence Bowl of the Bowl
  1 10 Championship Series; and
  1 11    WHEREAS, the Cyclones this year shared the Big 12
  1 12 North title, its first conference crown since 1912,
  1 13 and played in a postseason bowl game for the fourth
  1 14 time in five years; and
  1 15    WHEREAS, the Iowa State University football team
  1 16 placed nine different players on the All=Big 12
  1 17 Conference teams; and
  1 18    WHEREAS, linebacker Tim Dobbins was named the Big
  1 19 12 Defensive Newcomer of the Year; and
  1 20    WHEREAS, sophomore running back Stevie Hicks and
  1 21 quarterback Bret Meyer each ran for more than 100
  1 22 yards in the Independence Bowl game, contributing to a
  1 23 total of 295 yards on the ground; and
  1 24    WHEREAS, this feat marked the first time in the 29=
  1 25 year history of the Independence Bowl that two players
  1 26 on the same team rushed for more than 100 yards; and
  1 27    WHEREAS, fifteen football student=athletes were
  1 28 selected to the Academic All=Big 12 team; and
  1 29    WHEREAS, Coach Dan McCarney was voted the Big 12
  1 30 Coach of the Year by his Big 12 peers; and
  2  1    WHEREAS, the Iowa State University Cyclones
  2  2 football team deserves recognition for all of its
  2  3 accomplishments during the 2004=2005 season; NOW
  2  4 THEREFORE,
  2  5    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
  2  6 That the House of Representatives congratulates the
  2  7 Iowa State University football team, Coach Dan
  2  8 McCarney, and the coaching staff on their successful
  2  9 season and thanks them for the honor and recognition
  2 10 they have brought to Iowa State University and to the
  2 11 State of Iowa; and
  2 12    BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That, upon adoption, the
  2 13 Chief Clerk of the House shall prepare an official
  2 14 copy of this Resolution for presentation to Coach
  2 15 McCarney and the Iowa State University football team.
