  1  1                HOUSE RESOLUTION NO.    
  1  2                        BY  MERTZ
  1  3 A Resolution honoring the city of Livermore on its
  1  4    quasquicentennial year.
  1  5    WHEREAS, the city of Livermore in Humboldt County,
  1  6 first platted in 1878, is celebrating its 125th
  1  7 anniversary; and
  1  8    WHEREAS, Livemore's first settlers were tough and
  1  9 hardworking, establishing their homes despite a
  1 10 disastrous grasshopper invasion, devastating
  1 11 blizzards, and destructive fires; and
  1 12    WHEREAS, the motto "More to Live for in Livermore"
  1 13 exemplifies the community's strong moral values and
  1 14 friendly down=to=earth citizens; and
  1 15    WHEREAS, the economic development in Livermore is
  1 16 based in such dynamic businesses as TRV
  1 17 Communications, Coco's Place, The Korner Store, T.L.
  1 18 Brown & Sons, Barney's, Gold Eagle Coop, and the
  1 19 Spring Valley Golf Club; and
  1 20    WHEREAS, the city of Livermore will celebrate its
  1 21 125th anniversary July 15=17, 2005, with a parade, car
  1 22 show, beard judging contest, garden tractor pull,
  1 23 softball tournament, and street dance; NOW THEREFORE,
  1 24    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
  1 25 That the House of Representatives recognizes and
  1 26 extends its congratulations to the city of Livermore
  1 27 on its quasquicentennial and for its 125 years of
  1 28 service to its citizens and to the State of Iowa; and
  1 29    BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That an official copy of
  1 30 this Resolution be prepared and presented to the
  2  1 Honorable Tom Brown, Mayor of the city of Livermore.
