  1  1                HOUSE RESOLUTION NO.    
  1  2         BY  MASCHER, FOEGE, JACOBY, and LENSING
  1  3 A Resolution honoring the University of Iowa football
  1  4    team and Coach Kirk Ferentz.
  1  5    WHEREAS, an unbelievable season for the University
  1  6 of Iowa Hawkeyes football team culminated in a
  1  7 stunning victory over Louisiana State University in
  1  8 the Capital One Bowl; and
  1  9    WHEREAS, Drew Tate's 56=yard touchdown pass to
  1 10 Warren Holloway on the last play of the last game of
  1 11 the season ranks as one of the most dramatic moments
  1 12 in Hawkeye football history; and
  1 13    WHEREAS, the Capital One Bowl appearance marked the
  1 14 third straight year that the Hawkeyes have advanced to
  1 15 a New Year's Day bowl game; and
  1 16    WHEREAS, the Iowa Hawkeyes have won 18 straight
  1 17 home games and finished their regular season with a
  1 18 record of nine wins and two losses, and seven wins and
  1 19 one loss in the Big Ten Conference; and
  1 20    WHEREAS, six different members of Iowa's Big Ten
  1 21 Conference cochampionship team have been named first
  1 22 or second team All=Big Ten, including quarterback Drew
  1 23 Tate, defensive linemen Matt Roth and Jonathan
  1 24 Babineaux, linebackers Chad Greenway and Abdul Hodge,
  1 25 and wide receiver Clinton Solomon, who was a second
  1 26 team selection; and
  1 27    WHEREAS, the Iowa Hawkeyes finished the season
  1 28 ranked eleventh nationally; and
  1 29    WHEREAS, Coach Kirk Ferentz was selected the Dave
  1 30 McClain Coach of the Year and the 2004 Big Ten Coach
  2  1 of the Year, after leading two teams in three years to
  2  2 a share of the Big Ten cochampionship and finishing
  2  3 with a 30=7 record in the past three years; and
  2  4    WHEREAS, the University of Iowa's football team
  2  5 deserves recognition for all of its accomplishments
  2  6 during the 2004=2005 season; NOW THEREFORE,
  2  7    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
  2  8 That the House of Representatives congratulates the
  2  9 University of Iowa football team, Coach Kirk Ferentz,
  2 10 and the coaching staff on their successful season and
  2 11 thanks them for the honor and recognition they have
  2 12 brought to the University of Iowa and to the State of
  2 13 Iowa; and
  2 14    BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That, upon adoption, the
  2 15 Chief Clerk of the House shall prepare an official
  2 16 copy of this Resolution for presentation to Coach Kirk
  2 17 Ferentz and the University of Iowa football team.
