  1  3 A Resolution honoring Dwayne McAninch for his pioneering
  1  4    work in revolutionizing the construction industry.
  1  5    WHEREAS, Dwayne McAninch grew up on an Iowa farm,
  1  6 started his own earthmoving business in 1954 at age
  1  7 17, and founded the McAninch Corporation in 1967,
  1  8 constructing farm ponds with one D7 bulldozer; and
  1  9    WHEREAS, after almost four decades of dedicated
  1 10 work, the McAninch Corporation has earned a reputation
  1 11 as one of America's leading contractors, specializing
  1 12 in high production, quality earthmoving and sanitary,
  1 13 storm, and water main installation; and
  1 14    WHEREAS, at a time when most people think of
  1 15 retirement, Dwayne McAninch is busy taking the
  1 16 earthmoving industry into the 21st century, pioneering
  1 17 efforts to combine global positioning satellites and
  1 18 other sophisticated project controls with traditional
  1 19 earthmoving techniques; and
  1 20    WHEREAS, Mr. McAninch recognized the potential for
  1 21 global positioning satellites while visiting
  1 22 Caterpillar's research facility in Mossville,
  1 23 Illinois; and
  1 24    WHEREAS, Dwayne McAninch served as a catalyst,
  1 25 encouraging Caterpillar and Trimble Navigation to form
  1 26 Caterpillar Trimble Control Technologies, L.L.C., a
  1 27 Dayton, Ohio=based joint venture, with Dwayne McAninch
  1 28 serving on its advisory board; and
  1 29    WHEREAS, Mr. McAninch's subsequent field tests and
  1 30 enthusiastic promotion helped turn machine control
  2  1 into a global phenomenon; and
  2  2    WHEREAS, Dwayne McAninch is responsible for putting
  2  3 a new generation of global positioning satellite=
  2  4 guided equipment to work in the field and
  2  5 demonstrated, with real=world results, that the
  2  6 melding of computer technology and earthmoving
  2  7 equipment can generate enormous productivity and
  2  8 savings; and
  2  9    WHEREAS, for pioneering the use of cutting=edge
  2 10 technology, popularizing its use, and pushing the
  2 11 earthmoving business to innovate, the editors of
  2 12 Engineering News=Record named Dwayne McAninch one of
  2 13 the top 25 newsmakers of 2005, a list which recognizes
  2 14 25 individuals for their accomplishments in the
  2 15 industry; and
  2 16    WHEREAS, on April 6, 2006, the editors awarded Mr.
  2 17 McAninch its 2005 Award of Excellence at a dinner for
  2 18 1,400 industry leaders in New York City; NOW
  2 19 THEREFORE,
  2 20    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
  2 21 That the House of Representatives recognizes the
  2 22 dedicated and forward=thinking efforts of Dwayne
  2 23 McAninch in bringing the construction industry into
  2 24 the 21st century and congratulates him for being
  2 25 awarded the Engineering News=Record's 2005 Award of
  2 26 Excellence; and
  2 27    BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That upon adoption an
  2 28 official copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  2 29 presentation to Dwayne McAninch.
