  1  3 A Resolution congratulating the Matilda J. Gibson
  1  4    Memorial Library in Creston, Iowa, on its 75th
  1  5    anniversary.
  1  6    WHEREAS, in April 2006 the Matilda J. Gibson
  1  7 Memorial Library in Creston, Iowa, will celebrate its
  1  8 75th anniversary; and
  1  9    WHEREAS, for all those years the Gibson Memorial
  1 10 Library has provided access to global information for
  1 11 the residents of Creston, Union County, and the
  1 12 surrounding communities; and
  1 13    WHEREAS, the library provides a vital community
  1 14 service 51 hours per week, six days a week; and
  1 15    WHEREAS, the library is supported by the Friends of
  1 16 Creston Public Library, a volunteer group dedicated to
  1 17 the support and promotion of the library, with money
  1 18 raised by the Friends used to fund and support
  1 19 numerous library services and activities; and
  1 20    WHEREAS, those services and activities include
  1 21 adult programming, children's programming, free fax
  1 22 and copier service, and public use computers; and
  1 23    WHEREAS, collections in the Gibson Memorial Library
  1 24 include large print books, books on tape, videos,
  1 25 genealogy resources, local history resources, the PACE
  1 26 collection, microfilm collection, newspapers,
  1 27 magazines, art prints, and more; NOW THEREFORE,
  1 28    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
  1 29 That the House of Representatives congratulates the
  1 30 Matilda J. Gibson Memorial Library, the director,
  2  1 Marilyn Ralls, and the library staff for 75 years of
  2  2 service to the people of southwest Iowa.
