  1  2        BY  BERRY, JENKINS, KRESSIG, and SHOULTZ
  1  3 A Resolution recognizing Ms. Effie Burt for her
  1  4    composition, "I'll Make Me a World in Iowa".
  1  5    WHEREAS, Ms. Effie Burt, an esteemed resident of
  1  6 Waterloo, Iowa, has composed "I'll Make Me a World in
  1  7 Iowa", a song reflecting on the best qualities of
  1  8 Iowa, to remind her daughter and others that Iowa is a
  1  9 state in which dreams may be dreamt and then achieved;
  1 10 and
  1 11    WHEREAS, Ms. Burt's initiative in composing "I'll
  1 12 Make Me a World in Iowa" is both commendable and
  1 13 inspirational and reflects a continuing dedication to
  1 14 the values and traditions at the core of the Iowa
  1 15 spirit; and
  1 16    WHEREAS, Ms. Burt's composition is a worthy
  1 17 companion to the official state song, "The Song of
  1 18 Iowa", by S.H.M. Byers; NOW THEREFORE,
  1 19    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
  1 20 That the House of Representatives recognizes Ms. Effie
  1 21 Burt for her composition, "I'll Make Me a World in
  1 22 Iowa", and thanks her for her initiative and ongoing
  1 23 dedication to Iowa and for using her musical talent in
  1 24 such a beneficial manner; and
  1 25    BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the House of
  1 26 Representatives encourages the use of "I'll Make Me a
  1 27 World in Iowa" as a companion to the official state
  1 28 song and all contexts in which the state song is
  1 29 presented; and
  1 30    BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That, upon passage, the
  2  1 Chief Clerk of the House of Represenatives shall cause
  2  2 an official copy of this Resolution to be prepared for
  2  3 presentation to Ms. Effie Burt.
