  1 10 A Resolution to recognize and honor Iowa's military
  1 11    veterans band.
  1 12    WHEREAS, the Iowa military veterans band was
  1 13 originally created to perform one concert at the 1996
  1 14 dedication of the Iowa World War II Memorial; and
  1 15    WHEREAS, the band is now composed of nearly 100
  1 16 Iowa military veterans, both men and women; and
  1 17    WHEREAS, band membership includes veterans serving
  1 18 from the time of World War II to the current war on
  1 19 terror and represents all branches of the military
  1 20 service; and
  1 21    WHEREAS, the band promotes the timeless music of
  1 22 the great American composers, including John Philip
  1 23 Sousa, Karl King, Meredith Willson, George M. Cohan,
  1 24 and Irving Berlin; and
  1 25    WHEREAS, through its music, the band supports Iowa
  1 26 military veterans and their organizations and honors
  1 27 America's national holidays and the State of Iowa; and
  1 28    WHEREAS, the band does all this without charge,
  1 29 relying on the generous donations of the public and
  1 30 the business community; NOW THEREFORE,
  2  1    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
  2  2 That the House of Representatives recognizes and
  2  3 honors Iowa's military veterans band and thanks its
  2  4 members for bringing the gift of traditional band
  2  5 music to Iowans of all ages.
