  1  3 A Resolution honoring James L. Brimeyer, the 2005 Iowa
  1  4    Professor of the Year.
  1  5    WHEREAS, career educator James L. Brimeyer received
  1  6 both his Bachelor of Arts and his Master of Arts
  1  7 degrees at Loras College in Dubuque; and
  1  8    WHEREAS, for 10 years Professor Brimeyer has been a
  1  9 composition and literature instructor at the Peosta
  1 10 Campus of Northeast Iowa Community College; and
  1 11    WHEREAS, out of 400 top professors nominated by
  1 12 colleges and universities across the country, the
  1 13 Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching
  1 14 and the Council for Advancement and Support of
  1 15 Education have named Professor Brimeyer as the 2005
  1 16 Iowa Professor of the Year; and
  1 17    WHEREAS, Professor Brimeyer has received many
  1 18 accolades in the course of his career, including the
  1 19 Iowa State University Educational Leadership Award in
  1 20 2004, the Iowa Literacy Award for Contributions to
  1 21 Literacy and Learning in 2001, the National Institute
  1 22 for Staff and Organizational Development Teaching
  1 23 Excellence Award in 1997, the Northeast Iowa Community
  1 24 College Extra Effort Award in 2003, and a listing in
  1 25 the 58th Edition of Marquis Who's Who in America in
  1 26 2004; and
  1 27    WHEREAS, Professor Brimeyer has dedicated his life
  1 28 to the education of generations of young Iowans,
  1 29 teaching at Wahlert High School in Dubuque for 25
  1 30 years before joining the Northeast Iowa Community
  2  1 College faculty in 1995; NOW THEREFORE,
  2  2    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
  2  3 That the House of Representatives congratulates James
  2  4 L. Brimeyer on being named the 2005 Iowa Professor of
  2  5 the Year and honors his three decades of service to
  2  6 the education of Iowa's youth.
