  1  3 A Resolution to recognize and honor photographer
  1  4    Robert Nandell.
  1  5    WHEREAS, Robert Nandell began his distinguished
  1  6 career as a photojournalist at the University of
  1  7 Iowa's college newspaper; and
  1  8    WHEREAS, for 41 years Mr. Nandell has worked as a
  1  9 professional photographer, first working for the Mason
  1 10 City Globe Gazette and the Milwaukee Journal, and for
  1 11 the last 28 years serving as a photographer for the
  1 12 Des Moines Register; and
  1 13    WHEREAS, during his career, Mr. Nandell has taken
  1 14 tens of thousands of photographs, providing a vast
  1 15 archive which chronicles people, places, and events
  1 16 over the decades; and
  1 17    WHEREAS, in 1979, a photograph taken by Mr.
  1 18 Nandell, showing an enthusiastic Iowa crowd
  1 19 surrounding Pope John Paul II, ran as a full page in
  1 20 the Des Moines Register; and
  1 21    WHEREAS, Mr. Nandell photographed not just
  1 22 celebrities and events in the news, but also delighted
  1 23 in capturing images of Iowa's people and places; and
  1 24    WHEREAS, on December 1, 2005, Mr. Nandell retired,
  1 25 leaving a 41=year legacy of excellence in
  1 26 photojournalism; NOW THEREFORE,
  1 27    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
  1 28 That the House of Representatives recognizes and
  1 29 honors Robert Nandell for his distinguished career and
  1 30 thanks him for chronicling Iowa and Iowans for these
  2  1 many decades in his photographs.
