  1  1    Section 1.  OBESITY PROGRAM.  There is appropriated from
  1  2 the general fund of the state to the Iowa department of public
  1  3 health for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2005, and ending
  1  4 June 30, 2006, the following amount, or so much thereof as is
  1  5 necessary, to be used for the purpose designated:
  1  6    For development of model programs to reduce the incidence
  1  7 of obesity among children and adults:
  1  8 .................................................. $    250,000
  1  9    The department shall work with the prevention research
  1 10 center of the university of Iowa's college of public health
  1 11 and others to test, develop, and disseminate model programs
  1 12 for both rural and urban areas.
  1 13                           EXPLANATION
  1 14    This bill makes an appropriation to the Iowa department of
  1 15 public health to test, develop, and disseminate model programs
  1 16 to reduce the incidence of obesity among children and adults
  1 17 in both rural and urban areas.  The department is directed to
  1 18 work with the prevention research center of the university of
  1 19 Iowa and others.
