  1  1    Section 1.  NEW SECTION.  8.7  REPORTING OF GIFTS RECEIVED.
  1  2    All gifts, bequests, and grants received by a department
  1  3 and accepted by the governor on behalf of the state shall be
  1  4 reported to the department of management.  The department of
  1  5 management shall, by January 31 of each year, submit to the
  1  6 fiscal services division of the legislative services agency a
  1  7 written report listing all gifts, bequests, and grants
  1  8 received during the previous calendar year with a value over
  1  9 one thousand dollars and all gifts, bequests, and grants
  1 10 received by a department from a person if the cumulative value
  1 11 of all gifts, bequests, and grants received by the department
  1 12 from the person during the previous calendar year exceeds one
  1 13 thousand dollars.  The department shall include in the report,
  1 14 if available, the purpose for each gift, bequest, or grant
  1 15 listed in the report.
  1 16                           EXPLANATION
  1 17    This bill requires that all gifts, bequests, and grants
  1 18 received by a department of the state and accepted by the
  1 19 governor on behalf of the state shall be reported to the
  1 20 department of management.  The department is then required to
  1 21 submit by January 31 of each year a written report to the
  1 22 fiscal division of the legislative services agency listing,
  1 23 for the previous calendar year, all gifts received of over
  1 24 $1,000 and all gifts received by a particular state department
  1 25 from a person if the cumulative value of the gifts received
  1 26 from the person is over $1,000.  The bill also requires that
  1 27 the purpose of each gift received and reported be included, if
  1 28 available, in the report.
