  1  1    Section 1.  FEASIBILITY STUDY.  The department of economic
  1  2 development, in cooperation with the state department of
  1  3 transportation, shall conduct a feasibility study regarding
  1  4 commercial air transportation service in the state.  As part
  1  5 of the study, the department shall examine the feasibility of
  1  6 expanding air transportation service to areas of the state
  1  7 where air transportation service is lacking and the
  1  8 feasibility of using Des Moines as a hub for the expansion of
  1  9 such services.  The department of economic development shall
  1 10 submit a written report that includes, but is not limited to,
  1 11 findings and recommendations to the general assembly by
  1 12 December 31, 2005.
  1 13                           EXPLANATION
  1 14    This bill relates to a feasibility study regarding air
  1 15 transportation service in the state.
  1 16    The bill requires the department of economic development,
  1 17 in cooperation with the state department of transportation, to
  1 18 conduct a feasibility study regarding commercial air
  1 19 transportation service in the state.  The bill requires the
  1 20 department to examine the feasibility of expanding air
  1 21 transportation service to areas of the state where air
  1 22 transportation service is lacking and the feasibility of using
  1 23 Des Moines as a hub for the expansion of such services.  The
  1 24 bill requires the department to submit a written report to the
  1 25 general assembly by December 31, 2005.
