  1  1    Section 1.  Section 483A.24, subsection 2, paragraph b,
  1  2 Code 2005, is amended to read as follows:
  1  3    b.  (1)  Upon written application on forms furnished by the
  1  4 department, the department shall issue annually without fee
  1  5 one deer or one wild turkey license, or both, to the owner of
  1  6 a farm unit or to a member of the owner's family, but not to
  1  7 both, and to the tenant or to a member of the tenant's family,
  1  8 but not to both.  The deer hunting license or wild turkey
  1  9 hunting license issued shall be valid only on the farm unit
  1 10 for which an applicant qualifies pursuant to this subsection
  1 11 and shall be equivalent to the least restrictive license
  1 12 issued under section 481A.38.  The owner or the tenant need
  1 13 not reside on the farm unit to qualify for a free license to
  1 14 hunt on that farm unit.
  1 15    (2)  A free deer hunting license issued pursuant to this
  1 16 subsection shall be valid and may be used during all shotgun
  1 17 any one deer seasons hunting season.
  1 18    (3)  A free wild turkey hunting license issued pursuant to
  1 19 this subsection shall be valid and may be used during any one
  1 20 wild turkey hunting season.
  1 21                           EXPLANATION
  1 22    This bill provides that the free deer and wild turkey
  1 23 hunting licenses that are available to resident landowners
  1 24 pursuant to Code section 483A.24, subsection 2, shall be valid
  1 25 and may be used during any one deer or turkey season instead
  1 26 of just for one season specified on the license.
