  1  1    Section 1.  Section 915.13, subsection 1, Code 2005, is
  1  2 amended by adding the following new paragraph:
  1  3    NEW PARAGRAPH.  h.  The scheduled date, time, and place of
  1  4 a hearing where the defendant is pleading guilty, and the
  1  5 right to present a victim impact statement as provided in
  1  6 paragraph "d" prior to any plea of guilty.
  1  7                           EXPLANATION
  1  8    This bill relates to the presence of a crime victim at a
  1  9 hearing where the defendant is pleading guilty.
  1 10    The bill requires the county attorney to notify a crime
  1 11 victim of the date, time, and place of any hearing where the
  1 12 defendant is pleading guilty.  Under the bill, a victim has
  1 13 the right to present a victim impact statement in the presence
  1 14 of the defendant prior to any plea of guilty.
