  2 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:

  1  1    Section 1.  VICTIM ASSISTANCE GRANTS.  There is
  1  2 appropriated from the general fund of the state to the
  1  3 department of justice for the fiscal year beginning July 1,
  1  4 2006, and ending June 30, 2007, the following amount, or so
  1  5 much thereof as is necessary, to be used for the following
  1  6 purpose designated:
  1  7    For victim assistance grants:
  1  8 .................................................. $  2,250,000
  1  9    The funds appropriated shall be used to provide grants to
  1 10 care providers delivering services to victims of domestic
  1 11 abuse or to victims of rape and sexual assault.
  1 12                           EXPLANATION
  1 13    This bill relates to making an appropriation for victim
  1 14 assistance grants.
  1 15    The bill appropriates $2,250,000 from the general fund of
  1 16 the state to the department of justice for the fiscal year
  1 17 2006=2007 to be used for victim assistance grants.
  1 18    The bill provides that the funds appropriated shall be used
  1 19 to provide grants to care providers providing services to
  1 20 victims of domestic abuse or victims of rape and sexual
  1 21 assault.
