Section 257.11, subsection 6, Code Supplement 1 2 2005, is amended to read as follows: 1 3 6. SHARED CLASSES DELIVERED OVER THE IOWA COMMUNICATIONS 1 4 NETWORK. 1 5 a. A pupil attending a class in which students from one or 1 6 more other school districts are enrolled and which is taught 1 7 via the Iowa communications network is not deemed to be 1 8 attending a class in another school districtor in a community 1 9 collegefor the purposes of this section and the school 1 10 district is not eligible for supplementary weighting for that 1 11 class under this section. 1 12 b. A pupil attending a class via the Iowa communications 1 13 network which meets the requirements of subsection 3, 1 14 paragraph "b", subparagraphs (1) through (7), for classes 1 15 offered through a sharing agreement between a school district 1 16 and a community college shall be assigned a weighting of 1 17 forty=eight hundredths of the percentage of the pupil's school 1 18 day during which the pupil attends the class via the Iowa 1 19 communications network. 1 20 EXPLANATION 1 21 This bill modifies the provisions of Code section 257.11, 1 22 subsection 6, which currently provides that supplementary 1 23 weighting is not available for classes taught via the Iowa 1 24 communications network, such that this restriction shall not 1 25 apply to supplementary weighting for community college=level 1 26 classes. The bill provides that a pupil attending a class via 1 27 the network which meets the applicable requirements for 1 28 classes offered through a sharing agreement between a school 1 29 district and a community college shall be assigned a weighting 1 30 of forty=eight hundredths of the percentage of the pupil's 1 31 school day during which the pupil attends the class via the 1 32 Iowa communications network.
