  1  1    Section 1.  Section 232.150, subsection 1, paragraph a,
  1  2 Code 2005, is amended to read as follows:
  1  3    a.  Two years have elapsed since the final discharge of the
  1  4 person or six months have elapsed since the last official
  1  5 action in the person's case, or upon determination by the
  1  6 judge, if there was no adjudication and disposition.
  1  7                           EXPLANATION
  1  8    This bill relates to the sealing of juvenile court records.
  1  9 The bill provides that the juvenile court may consider sealing
  1 10 the juvenile court records in a juvenile's case at the
  1 11 discretion of the judge or if six months have elapsed since
  1 12 the last official action in the case and there was no
  1 13 adjudication and disposition.
  1 14    Current law provides that the juvenile court shall not
  1 15 consider sealing the juvenile court records in a case unless
  1 16 two years have elapsed since the final discharge of the person
  1 17 or since the last official action in a case where there was no
  1 18 adjudication and disposition.
  1 19    The bill does not change the other additional factors the
  1 20 court must consider prior to sealing the juvenile court
  1 21 records pursuant to Code section 232.150, subsection 1.
