3 files and requiring the use of standard vehicle rating
4 symbols.

1 1 Section 1. Section 321.200, Code Supplement 2005, is
1 2 amended to read as follows:
1 3 321.200 CONVICTION AND ACCIDENT FILE.
1 4 The department shall also file all accident reports and
1 5 abstracts of court records of convictions received by it under
1 6 the laws of this state or any other state or foreign
1 7 jurisdiction and in connection therewith maintain convenient
1 8 records or make suitable notations in order that an individual
1 9 record of each licensee showing the convictions of such
1 10 licensee and the traffic accidents in which the licensee has
1 11 been involved shall be readily ascertainable and available for
1 12 the consideration of the department upon any application for
1 13 renewal of license and at other suitable times. A record
1 14 showing that a licensee was involved in a traffic accident
1 15 shall indicate if a citation was issued to the licensee, if a
1 16 citation was issued to another motor vehicle operator involved
1 17 in the accident, or if no citations were issued in connection
1 18 with the accident, as applicable. Each record of conviction
1 19 for a person with a commercial motor vehicle license shall
1 20 indicate if the conviction was for a moving violation.
1 21 Sec. 2. NEW SECTION. 515.23 AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE POLICY
1 22 STANDARDIZATION.
1 23 Every company that issues automobile insurance policies in
1 24 this state shall use the vehicle series rating symbols
1 25 developed by the international organization for
1 26 standardization on any document relating to premiums for
1 27 insurance of private passenger vehicles.
1 28 EXPLANATION
1 29 This bill requires the state department of transportation
1 30 to include certain information in its conviction and accident
1 31 files that are available as public records. As part of the
1 32 record of a licensed driver's involvement in an accident, the
1 33 report shall indicate if a citation was issued to the driver
1 34 or to another motorist involved in the accident, or if no
1 35 citation was issued. For persons with a commercial driver's
2 1 license, each record of conviction shall indicate if the
2 2 conviction was for a moving violation.
2 3 The bill also requires companies that issue automobile
2 4 insurance policies in this state to use the international
2 5 organization for standardization's vehicle series rating
2 6 symbols on documents relating to premiums for insurance on
2 7 private passenger vehicles.
