  1  1    Section 1.  DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION == STORIES OF IOWA'S
  1  2 AFRICAN=AMERICAN HERITAGE WEBSITE.  There is appropriated from
  1  3 the general fund of the state to the department of education
  1  4 for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2006, and ending June
  1  5 30, 2007, the following amount, or so much thereof as is
  1  6 necessary, to be used for the purposes designated:
  1  7    For allocation to merged area XI for purposes of
  1  8 developing, in consultation with the university of northern
  1  9 Iowa, marketing, and supporting an educational, interactive
  1 10 internet website and associated virtual learning materials
  1 11 dedicated to the stories of Iowa's African=American heritage:
  1 12 .................................................. $     80,000
  1 13    The website developed pursuant to this section shall be
  1 14 designed for teachers and students at the kindergarten through
  1 15 grade five levels and for students at grade levels six through
  1 16 twelve.
  1 17                           EXPLANATION
  1 18    This bill appropriates $80,000 from the general fund of the
  1 19 state to the department of education for fiscal year 2006=2007
  1 20 for allocation to Des Moines area community college to
  1 21 develop, in consultation with the university of northern Iowa,
  1 22 market, and support an educational, interactive internet
  1 23 website and associated virtual learning materials dedicated to
  1 24 the stories of Iowa's African=American heritage.
