  1  1    Section 1.  Section 421.17, Code Supplement 2005, is
  1  2 amended by adding the following new subsection:
  1  3    NEW SUBSECTION.  30.  To develop, in consultation with the
  1  4 department of public defense, an information booklet providing
  1  5 pertinent tax information, both state and federal, relating to
  1  6 members of the Iowa national guard and armed forces military
  1  7 reserve serving on federal active duty.  This information
  1  8 shall also be available on the official websites of the
  1  9 department and the department of public defense.
  1 10    Sec. 2.  EFFECTIVE DATE.  This Act, being deemed of
  1 11 immediate importance, takes effect upon enactment.
  1 12                           EXPLANATION
  1 13    This bill requires the department of revenue, in
  1 14 consultation with the department of public defense, to develop
  1 15 an information booklet providing tax information for persons
  1 16 in the national guard and military services serving on federal
  1 17 active duty.
  1 18    The bill takes effect upon enactment.
