  1  1    Section 1.  Section 256.16, subsection 1, Code 2005, is
  1  2 amended by adding the following new paragraph:
  1  3    NEW PARAGRAPH.  d.  Include in the practitioner and
  1  4 administrator preparation programs equity training and
  1  5 strategies for effectively working with diverse learners.
  1  6    Sec. 2.  Section 272.31, Code 2005, is amended by adding
  1  7 the following new subsection:
  1  8    NEW SUBSECTION.  3.  The board shall require that courses
  1  9 approved pursuant to subsection 2 include equity training and
  1 10 strategies for effectively working with diverse learners.
  1 11                           EXPLANATION
  1 12    This bill requires that the practitioner and administrator
  1 13 preparation programs approved by the board of education, and
  1 14 the courses approved by the board of educational examiners for
  1 15 coaching authorizations include equity training and strategies
  1 16 for effectively working with diverse learners.
