  1  1    Section 1.  Section 256.7, Code Supplement 2005, is amended
  1  2 by adding the following new subsection:
  1  3    NEW SUBSECTION.  27.  Adopt rules, in consultation with the
  1  4 department of human services, relating to participation of
  1  5 area education agencies and local education agencies in the
  1  6 medical assistance program as defined in section 249A.2,
  1  7 including but not limited to reimbursement and auditing
  1  8 standards and procedures.
  1  9                           EXPLANATION
  1 10    This bill directs the state board of education to adopt
  1 11 rules, in consultation with the department of human services,
  1 12 relating to participation of area education agencies and local
  1 13 education agencies in the medical assistance program.  The
  1 14 rules are to include but are not limited to the areas of
  1 15 reimbursement and auditing standards and procedures.
