  1  1    Section 1.  HOME OWNERSHIP ASSISTANCE PROGRAM == MATCHING
  1  2 GRANT AMOUNT.  The Iowa finance authority and the department
  1  3 of public defense shall increase from $5,000 to $10,000 the
  1  4 amount of the matching grant that is payable under the home
  1  5 ownership assistance program implemented pursuant to 2003 Iowa
  1  6 Acts, chapter 179, section 21, subsection 5, as amended by
  1  7 2006 Iowa Acts, House File 2080, and 2005 Iowa Acts, chapter
  1  8 161, section 1, and chapter 115, section 37.  The increase in
  1  9 the grant amount made pursuant to this section is applicable
  1 10 to the grants paid on or after the effective date of the
  1 11 change made pursuant to this section and does not apply to
  1 12 grants paid before that date.
  1 13    Sec. 2.  EFFECTIVE DATE.  This Act, being deemed of
  1 14 immediate importance, takes effect upon enactment.
  1 15                           EXPLANATION
  1 16    This bill directs the Iowa finance authority and the
  1 17 department of public defense to increase the amount of the
  1 18 matching grant payable under the home ownership assistance
  1 19 program for veterans from $5,000 to $10,000.  The increase
  1 20 applies to grants paid on or after the effective date of the
  1 21 bill and does not apply to grants paid before that date.
  1 22    The bill takes effect upon enactment.
