  1  1    Section 1.  WAIVER == STATE CHILDREN'S HEALTH INSURANCE
  1  2 PROGRAM.  The director of human services shall seek a waiver
  1  3 from the centers for Medicaid and Medicare services of the
  1  4 United States department of health and human services to
  1  5 expand the state children's health insurance program created
  1  6 under Title XXI of the federal Social Security Act to cover
  1  7 parents and caretakers of children who are eligible for
  1  8 coverage under the Iowa state children's health insurance
  1  9 program established under chapter 514I.  For the purposes of
  1 10 this section, "caretaker" means legal custodian or guardian of
  1 11 a dependent child.
  1 12                           EXPLANATION
  1 13    This bill directs the director of human services to seek a
  1 14 waiver from the centers for Medicaid and Medicare services of
  1 15 the United States department of health and human services to
  1 16 expand the hawk=i program to cover parents and legal
  1 17 custodians and guardians of children who are eligible for
  1 18 coverage under that program.
