  1  1    Section 1.  Section 716.8, subsection 1, Code 2005, is
  1  2 amended to read as follows:
  1  3    1.  Any person who knowingly trespasses upon the property
  1  4 of another commits a simple misdemeanor punishable by a fine
  1  5 of at least one hundred dollars but not to exceed five hundred
  1  6 dollars, or imprisonment not to exceed sixty days, or both.
  1  7                           EXPLANATION
  1  8    This bill increases the minimum fine for a simple
  1  9 misdemeanor offense of trespassing to $100 and increases the
  1 10 maximum term of confinement to 60 days.  Current law provides
  1 11 a minimum fine of $50 in addition to or in lieu of
  1 12 imprisonment for up to 30 days pursuant to the standard
  1 13 maximum sentence for a simple misdemeanor.
