  1  1    Section 1.  Section 600.17, Code Supplement 2005, is
  1  2 amended by adding the following new subsection:
  1  3    NEW SUBSECTION.  4.  If the child to be adopted was under
  1  4 the guardianship of the state, county, or a child=placing
  1  5 agency licensed under chapter 238 immediately prior to
  1  6 adoption and a licensed child=placing agency provided services
  1  7 in connection with the adoption, the department shall
  1  8 reimburse the agency for the agency's expenses incurred in
  1  9 connection with the adoption.
  1 10                           EXPLANATION
  1 11    This bill amends Code section 600.17, relating to financial
  1 12 assistance provided by the department of human services for
  1 13 special needs adoptions.  If a child was under the
  1 14 guardianship of the state, county, or a licensed child=placing
  1 15 agency immediately prior to adoption and a licensed child=
  1 16 placing agency provided services in connection with the
  1 17 adoption, the bill requires the department to reimburse the
  1 18 agency for the agency's expenses incurred in connection with
  1 19 the adoption.
