  1  1    Section 1.  Section 1C.1, Code 2005, is amended by adding
  1  2 the following new subsection:
  1  3    NEW SUBSECTION.  7A.  General election day, the first
  1  4 Tuesday after the first Monday in November of each even=
  1  5 numbered year.
  1  6    Sec. 2.  Section 1C.2, Code 2005, is amended by adding the
  1  7 following new subsection:
  1  8    NEW SUBSECTION.  5A.  General election day, the first
  1  9 Tuesday after the first Monday in November of each even=
  1 10 numbered year.
  1 11                           EXPLANATION
  1 12    This bill establishes the day of the general election as a
  1 13 legal public holiday in Iowa and as a paid holiday for state
  1 14 employees.
