1 1 Section 1. Section 321.115, subsection 1, Code 2005, is
1 2 amended to read as follows:
1 3 1. A motor vehicle twenty=five years old or older, whose
1 4 owner desires to use the motor vehicle exclusively for
1 5 exhibition or educational purposes at state or county fairs,
1 6 or at other places where the motor vehicle may be exhibited
1 7 for entertainment or educational purposes, or for other
1 8 occasional use shall be given a registration registered for a
1 9 registration fee of five dollars per annum permitting the
1 10 driving of the motor vehicle upon the public roads to and from
1 11 state and county fairs or other places of entertainment or
1 12 education for exhibition or educational purposes, and to and
1 13 from service stations for the purpose of receiving necessary
1 14 maintenance, or for other occasional use.
1 15 EXPLANATION
1 16 This bill expands the purposes for which a motor vehicle
1 17 registered as an antique vehicle may be used. Under current
1 18 law, a motor vehicle that is 25 years old or older may be
1 19 registered for an annual fee of $5, and the owner may display
1 20 a model year plate on the vehicle so long as the current valid
1 21 Iowa registration plate and card are carried in the vehicle.
1 22 Vehicles registered as antique may only be driven to and from
1 23 places of entertainment or education for exhibition or
1 24 educational purposes and to and from service stations for
1 25 maintenance. The bill would allow other occasional use of the
1 26 vehicle.
