Section 91D.1, subsection 1, paragraph a, Code 1 2 2005, is amended to read as follows: 1 3 a. The hourly wage stated in the federal minimum wage law, 1 4 pursuant to 29 U.S.C. } 206, shall be increased to$3.85 on 1 5 January 1 of 1990, $4.25 on January 1 of 1991, and $4.65 on 1 6 January 1 of 1992a wage level, if annualized based on two 1 7 thousand eighty hours of work per year, of no less than one 1 8 hundred fifty percent of the federal poverty level for a 1 9 family of one as defined by the most recently revised poverty 1 10 income guidelines as published in the federal register by the 1 11 United States department of health and human services. 1 12 Sec. 2. Section 91D.1, subsection 1, paragraph d, Code 1 13 2005, is amended by striking the paragraph. 1 14 EXPLANATION 1 15 This bill increases the state minimum wage to a wage level 1 16 of no less than 150 percent of the federal poverty level for a 1 17 family of one as defined by the most recently revised poverty 1 18 income guidelines as published in the federal register by the 1 19 United States department of health and human services. The 1 20 bill eliminates an exemption to the state minimum wage law 1 21 that permits an employer to pay an employee who has not 1 22 completed 90 calendar days of employment with the employer a 1 23 minimum wage of $4.25. 1 24 LSB 1654HH 81 1 25 kh:rj/cf/24.1
