House Concurrent Resolution 106 - Introduced PAG LIN 1 1 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. ___ 1 2 BY HUSER, LUKAN, KAUFMANN, REICHERT, DANDEKAR, 1 3 STRUYK, FALLON, BOAL, BUKTA, HEDDENS, and 1 4 THOMAS 1 5 (COMPANION TO LSB 5685SS BY HANCOCK) 1 6 A Concurrent Resolution establishing a joint ad hoc 1 7 committee of members of the Senate and House of 1 8 Representatives to study emergency services in the 1 9 state. 1 10 WHEREAS, emergency services are vital to the health 1 11 and safety of Iowans; and 1 12 WHEREAS, the organizational structure and 1 13 governance of emergency services is complex, involving 1 14 many units of state and local government; and 1 15 WHEREAS, the funding streams available for 1 16 emergency services are varied; NOW THEREFORE, 1 17 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, THE 1 18 SENATE CONCURRING, That a joint ad hoc committee 1 19 consisting of members from both chambers is 1 20 established to study emergency services in the state 1 21 during the Eighty=first General Assembly, 2006 Regular 1 22 Session; and 1 23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the joint ad hoc 1 24 committee shall receive input from the department of 1 25 public defense, division of homeland security, 1 26 departments of human services, public health, and 1 27 public safety, including the state fire marshal, and 1 28 representatives of emergency services providers, 1 29 including but not limited to the Iowa Firemen's 1 30 Association, Iowa Fire Chiefs Association, Iowa 2 1 Association of Professional Fire Chiefs, and Iowa 2 2 Professional Fire Fighters; and 2 3 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the joint ad hoc 2 4 committee shall expeditiously complete its study and 2 5 issue findings and make recommendations regarding the 2 6 governance, structure, and funding of the state's 2 7 emergency services. 2 8 LSB 5685HH 81 2 9 jp:rj/gg/14 1
