Senate Resolution 38 PAG LIN 1 1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. __ 1 2 BY LAMBERTI 1 3 A Resolution designating a Whistler Laureate for the 1 4 Senate during the Eightieth General Assembly and 1 5 recognizing special rules of decorum. 1 6 WHEREAS, the Senate has consistently prized the 1 7 performing arts which contributes to and enriches the 1 8 cultural life of Iowa citizens, and has demonstrated a 1 9 devoted admiration to forms of the vocal arts in 1 10 particular; and 1 11 WHEREAS, one member who serving in only her second 1 12 term in the Senate truly whistles while she works and 1 13 has graced the Senate chamber as well as the House 1 14 chamber and rooms and halls and stairs and corridors 1 15 of the State Capitol with her musical presence; and 1 16 WHEREAS, the distinguished Senator from Linn 1 17 expresses her musical and political sentiments with a 1 18 fearless and heartfelt sincerity; NOW THEREFORE, 1 19 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That for the 1 20 Eightieth General Assembly, the Senate proclaims the 1 21 Honorable Senator Mary Lundby as Whistler Laureate for 1 22 the Senate; and 1 23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That from a time which 1 24 begins fifteen minutes before the Senate convenes, 1 25 while the Senate is in session, in recess, or at ease, 1 26 and extending one hour after the Senate adjourns for 1 27 the day, no person other than the Whistler Laureate 1 28 for the Senate shall perform the vocal art of 1 29 whistling. 1 30 LSB 3517SS 80 2 1 da/cl/14.1
