Senate Resolution 174 PAG LIN 1 1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1 2 BY HOUSER and SCHUERER 1 3 A Resolution requesting the establishment of a renewable 1 4 energy interim committee. 1 5 WHEREAS, Iowa has an abundant amount of corn, wind, 1 6 and other renewable energy resources; and 1 7 WHEREAS, the need to explore renewable energy 1 8 options is of paramount importance particularly in 1 9 light of current high fuel prices; NOW THEREFORE, 1 10 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the legislative 1 11 council is requested to establish a study committee to 1 12 meet during the 2004 legislative interim to consider 1 13 options for using renewable energy for economic 1 14 development. 1 15 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the interim study 1 16 committee should divide into subcommittees to focus on 1 17 electricity generation, co=generation, and use of 1 18 ethanol and alternative fuels and should include the 1 19 following members: 1 20 1. Ten members of the general assembly. 1 21 2. A representative of the Iowa energy center. 1 22 3. A representative of the Iowa utility board. 1 23 4. A representative of the department of natural 1 24 resources. 1 25 5. Two representatives of investor=owned 1 26 utilities. 1 27 6. A representative of a municipal utility. 1 28 7. A representative of the Iowa agribusiness 1 29 association. 1 30 8. A representative of the Iowa farm bureau. 2 1 9. A representative of a joint advisory agency 2 2 organized under Code chapter 28E representing 2 3 communities in this state that receive 2 4 hydroelectricity from the Missouri River or the 2 5 Mississippi River and are involved in wholesale 2 6 electric generation. 2 7 10. A representative of the alliance of automobile 2 8 manufacturers. 2 9 11. A representative of an investor=owned ethanol 2 10 fuel plant. 2 11 12.
