Senate Resolution 146 PAG LIN 1 1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1 2 BY BLACK and IVERSON 1 3 A Resolution expressing the State of Iowa's appreciation 1 4 of its strong relations with the Republic of China 1 5 on Taiwan. 1 6 WHEREAS, the State of Iowa and several cities in 1 7 Iowa have established formal sister state and sister 1 8 city relationships with regions and cities in the 1 9 Republic of China on Taiwan; and 1 10 WHEREAS, the State of Iowa, one of the leading 1 11 agricultural=producing areas of the world, has 1 12 developed strong economic ties with the Republic of 1 13 China on Taiwan, which includes a dynamic trade 1 14 partnership with Iowa commodity organizations and 1 15 producers of the highest quality agricultural products 1 16 including beef, pork, corn, and soybeans; and 1 17 WHEREAS, the State of Iowa extends friendship and 1 18 goodwill to the people of the Republic of China on 1 19 Taiwan and expresses confidence that these two areas 1 20 of the world will prosper from this partnership; NOW 1 21 THEREFORE, 1 22 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Iowa Senate 1 23 declares the State of Iowa's appreciation for its 1 24 strong relations with the Republic of China on Taiwan, 1 25 and with the honorable Thomas T. S. Cheng, Director 1 26 General, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, Chicago, 1 27 Illinois; and 1 28 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this 1 29 Resolution be presented to the honorable Director 1 30 General Thomas T.
