  1  1    Section 1.  Section 602.1215, Code 2003, is amended by
  1  2 adding the following new subsection:
  1  3    NEW SUBSECTION.  1A.  A clerk of the district court shall
  1  4 be appointed pursuant to subsection 1 within six months of the
  1  5 appointment of an acting clerk of the district court or
  1  6 temporary clerk, and no acting clerk of the district court or
  1  7 temporary clerk shall serve as clerk for a period greater than
  1  8 six months.
  1  9                           EXPLANATION
  1 10    This bill relates to the appointment of an acting clerk of
  1 11 the district court or temporary clerk and the permanent
  1 12 appointment of the clerk of the district court.
  1 13    The bill provides that a clerk of the district court shall
  1 14 be appointed within six months of the appointment of an acting
  1 15 clerk of the district court or temporary clerk.  The bill
  1 16 provides that no acting clerk of the district court or a
  1 17 temporary clerk shall serve as clerk for a period greater than
  1 18 six months.
