  1  1    Section 1.  Section 231B.1, subsection 4, Code 2003, is
  1  2 amended to read as follows:
  1  3    4.  "Elder group home" means a single=family residence that
  1  4 is a residence of a person who is providing at which location
  1  5 is provided room, board, and personal care to three through
  1  6 five elders who are not related to the person providing the
  1  7 service within the third degree of consanguinity or affinity.
  1  8    Sec. 2.  Section 231B.2, subsection 2, paragraph c, Code
  1  9 2003, is amended to read as follows:
  1 10    c.  An elder group home shall be owner=occupied, or owned
  1 11 by a nonprofit corporation and occupied by a resident manager.
  1 12 A resident manager shall reside in and provide services for no
  1 13 more than one elder group home staffed twenty=four hours per
  1 14 day, seven days per week.
  1 15                           EXPLANATION
  1 16    This bill provides that an elder group home is no longer
  1 17 required to be a location that is the residence of a person
  1 18 providing room, board, and services to elder tenants and is no
  1 19 longer required to be owner=occupied or have a resident
  1 20 manager, but instead is a location that provides room, board,
  1 21 and services to elder residents and is staffed 24 hours per
  1 22 day, seven days per week.
