  1  1    Section 1.  Section 562A.13, Code 2003, is amended by
  1  2 adding the following new subsection:
  1  3    NEW SUBSECTION.  6.  The landlord or a person authorized to
  1  4 enter into a rental agreement on behalf of the landlord shall
  1  5 disclose to each tenant in writing before the commencement of
  1  6 the tenancy if the property is listed in the comprehensive
  1  7 environmental response compensation and liability information
  1  8 system maintained by the federal environmental protection
  1  9 agency.
  1 10                           EXPLANATION
  1 11    This bill relates to landlord disclosure requirements
  1 12 regarding the environmental status of rental property.
  1 13    The bill provides that the landlord or a person authorized
  1 14 to enter into a rental agreement on behalf of the landlord
  1 15 shall disclose to each tenant in writing before the
  1 16 commencement of the tenancy if the property is listed in the
  1 17 comprehensive environmental response compensation and
  1 18 liability information system maintained by the federal
  1 19 environmental protection agency.
