  1  1    Section 1.  DEMENTIA=SPECIFIC CARE ALTERNATIVES == PILOT
  1  2 PROJECT.  The department of inspections and appeals, in
  1  3 cooperation with the department of elder affairs, shall
  1  4 implement a pilot project for dementia=specific alternative
  1  5 living.  The department of inspections and appeals, in
  1  6 cooperation with the department of elder affairs, shall adopt
  1  7 rules for the pilot project which allow for an environment
  1  8 that is similar to group home living, but which, at a minimum,
  1  9 require compliance with life safety code requirements.  The
  1 10 rules may limit the number and duration of the pilot projects.
  1 11 The projects shall be outcome=based and shall be subject to
  1 12 evaluation.
  1 13                           EXPLANATION
  1 14    This bill directs the department of inspections and
  1 15 appeals, in cooperation with the department of elder affairs,
  1 16 to implement a pilot project for dementia=specific alternative
  1 17 living.  The department of inspections and appeals is directed
  1 18 to adopt rules for the project which allow for an environment
  1 19 similar to group home living but which complies with life
  1 20 safety codes.  The rules may limit the number and duration of
  1 21 the projects and the projects are to be outcome=based and
  1 22 subject to evaluation.
