  2    equipment levy revenue, and providing an applicability
  3    provision.

  1  1    Section 1.  Section 298.3, Code Supplement 2003, is amended
  1  2 by adding the following new subsections:
  1  3    NEW SUBSECTION.  13.  The purchase of athletic uniforms,
  1  4 equipment, and supplies, and for other non=infrastructure=
  1  5 related purposes involving the maintenance of athletic
  1  6 training programs and participation in athletic competitions,
  1  7 contests, or events.
  1  8    NEW SUBSECTION.  14.  The purchase of equipment, materials,
  1  9 and inventory utilized in the study and presentation of the
  1 10 performing and fine arts, including dance, music, theater, and
  1 11 visual arts, and utilized in foreign language instruction.
  1 12    Sec. 2.  APPLICABILITY.  This Act is applicable for levies
  1 13 imposed either through board authorization or voter approval
  1 14 on or after the effective date of this Act.
  1 15                           EXPLANATION
  1 16    This bill provides for additional authorized uses of
  1 17 revenue derived by a school district from imposition of the
  1 18 physical plant and equipment levy.  The bill provides that
  1 19 revenue may be utilized for the purchase of athletic uniforms,
  1 20 equipment, and supplies, and for other non=infrastructure=
  1 21 related purposes involving the maintenance of athletic
  1 22 training programs and participation in athletic competitions,
  1 23 contests, or events.  The bill also provides that physical
  1 24 plant and equipment levy revenue may be utilized for the
  1 25 purchase of equipment, materials, and inventory utilized in
  1 26 the study and presentation of the performing and fine arts,
  1 27 including dance, music, theater, and visual arts, and utilized
  1 28 in foreign language instruction.
  1 29    The bill provides that the additional uses shall be
  1 30 authorized for levies imposed either through board
  1 31 authorization or voter approval on or after the bill's
  1 32 effective date.
