  1  1    Section 1.  NEW SECTION.  144.45B  EXPEDITED ISSUANCE OF
  1  2 CERTIFIED COPIES OF DEATH CERTIFICATES.
  1  3    Upon application by an attorney or other officer of the
  1  4 court involved in a court proceeding, the department shall, by
  1  5 rule, provide for an expedited procedure for the issuance of a
  1  6 certified copy of a certificate of death in cases in which
  1  7 compliance with the otherwise prescribed time frame for
  1  8 issuance would result in undue hardship.
  1  9                           EXPLANATION
  1 10    This bill directs the department of public health to adopt
  1 11 rules providing for an expedited procedure for the issuance of
  1 12 a certified copy of a death certificate to an attorney or
  1 13 other officer of the court involved in a court proceeding in
  1 14 cases in which compliance with the otherwise prescribed time
  1 15 frame for issuance would result in undue hardship.
