  1  1    Section 1.  Section 35B.5, Code 2003, is amended to read as
  1  2 follows:
  1  3    35B.5  COMPENSATION.
  1  4    A member of the commission shall receive twenty=five
  1  5 dollars for each month during which the member attends one or
  1  6 more commission meetings compensation as determined by the
  1  7 board of supervisors and shall be reimbursed for mileage the
  1  8 same as a member of the board of supervisors.  Compensation
  1  9 and mileage shall be paid out of the appropriation authorized
  1 10 in section 35B.14.
  1 11                           EXPLANATION
  1 12    This bill provides that a member of a county commission of
  1 13 veteran affairs shall receive compensation as determined by
  1 14 the county board of supervisors.  Currently, the commission
  1 15 members receive $25 for each month during which the members
  1 16 attend one or more commission meetings.
