House Resolution 34 PAG LIN 1 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. ___ 1 2 BY HOFFMAN 1 3 A Resolution honoring Mr. Roger Rusch and Mrs. Connie 1 4 Rusch for their acts of heroism in saving the lives 1 5 of Aleshea Cogdill and Ashley Neddermeyer. 1 6 WHEREAS, On June 8, 2002, a single=car accident 1 7 occurred near the farm home of Mr. Rusch and the now 1 8 deceased Mrs. Rusch, west of the town of Schleswig, in 1 9 Crawford County, Iowa; and 1 10 WHEREAS, having heard the accident, Mr. and Mrs. 1 11 Rusch endangered their own lives by attempting to 1 12 extinguish the burning car and removing Ashley 1 13 Neddermeyer by breaking the back window when the doors 1 14 to the burning vehicle would not open; and 1 15 WHEREAS, Mr. Rusch further endangered himself by 1 16 returning to the burning car and removing the 1 17 unconscious Aleshea Cogdill also through the back 1 18 window of the car; and 1 19 WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Rusch stayed with and 1 20 ministered to the young girls until emergency rescue 1 21 units arrived; NOW THEREFORE, 1 22 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, 1 23 That Mrs. Connie Rusch be honored posthumously and 1 24 remembered by the citizens of the State of Iowa for 1 25 her remarkable courage and heroism without regard to 1 26 her own personal safety; and 1 27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That Mr. Roger Rusch be 1 28 honored and commended by the House of Representatives 1 29 for his quick thinking, his courage, and his heroism, 1 30 without regard to his own personal safety, by pulling 2 1 both girls from the burning wreckage; and 2 2 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this 2 3 resolution be prepared and presented to Mr. Roger 2 4 Rusch. 2 5 LSB 2682HH 80 2 6 kk/pj/5
