  1  1                HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. ___

  1  3 A Resolution honoring 4=H clubs.
  1  4    WHEREAS, 4=H clubs are one of the United States'
  1  5 finest youth development organizations; and
  1  6    WHEREAS, 4=H clubs exist in every one of Iowa's 99
  1  7 counties and in almost every one of the nation's 3,067
  1  8 counties; and
  1  9    WHEREAS, 4=H clubs have provided Iowa boys and
  1 10 girls with educational and leadership opportunities
  1 11 through the fundamental principle of "learning by
  1 12 doing" since the early 1900s; and
  1 13    WHEREAS, the idea for the 4=H club emblem, a four=
  1 14 leaf clover, was born in Clarion, Iowa, and came to
  1 15 symbolize a four=square education of educational,
  1 16 fellowship, physical, and moral development; and
  1 17    WHEREAS, the 4=H motto is "To make the best
  1 18 better"; and
  1 19    WHEREAS, 4=H clubs today offer youth opportunities
  1 20 in communications, leadership and career development,
  1 21 livestock, home improvement, and computer technology
  1 22 in rural and urban areas throughout the world; and
  1 23    WHEREAS, the State of Iowa takes great pride in the
  1 24 many accomplishments of 4=H clubs and their members
  1 25 and leaders in the state; NOW THEREFORE,
  1 26    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
  1 27 That the House of Representatives gratefully
  1 28 acknowledges the contributions of 4=H to the state in
  1 29 general and to the youth of the state in particular,
  1 30 and extends congratulations to 4=H on its many
  2  1 accomplishments; and
  2  2    BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That an official copy of
  2  3 this Resolution be prepared and presented to the State
  2  4 4=H Council.
