  1  2        BY  DANDEKAR, QUIRK, STRUYK, and STEVENS
  1  3 A Resolution recommending the designation of the I=35
  1  4    and I=80 corridors in Iowa as part of the Purple
  1  5    Heart Trail.
  1  6    WHEREAS, the Military Order of the Purple Heart is
  1  7 the only congressionally chartered veterans
  1  8 organization exclusively for combat=wounded veterans;
  1  9 and
  1 10    WHEREAS, the Purple Heart Trail, which originated
  1 11 in Virginia, commemorates our patriotic American
  1 12 heritage and memorializes those persons who have been
  1 13 awarded the Purple Heart medal for wounds received in
  1 14 combat in defense of our nation; and
  1 15    WHEREAS, the Military Order of the Purple Heart has
  1 16 indicated that the organization will bear all expenses
  1 17 for the construction and placement of appropriate
  1 18 signs designating the Purple Heart Trail in Iowa; and
  1 19    WHEREAS, state revenues will not be required for
  1 20 the establishment of the trail; NOW THEREFORE,
  1 21    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
  1 22 That the House of Representatives recommends the
  1 23 designation of the Interstate 35 corridor and the
  1 24 Interstate 80 corridor in Iowa as part of the Purple
  1 25 Heart Trail; and
  1 26    BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That, upon passage of this
  1 27 Resolution, the Chief Clerk of the House of
  1 28 Representatives shall forward a copy of this
  1 29 Resolution to the Director of Transportation.
