House Resolution 114 PAG LIN 1 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. ___ 1 2 BY SHOULTZ, BERRY, THOMAS, JOCHUM, JENKINS, DENNIS, 1 3 MURPHY, RASMUSSEN, MANTERNACH, LUKAN, LALK, and GIPP 1 4 A Resolution to honor the First Judicial District 1 5 Department of Correctional Services for receiving 1 6 the exemplary offender program award. 1 7 WHEREAS, in 1998, the First Judicial District 1 8 Department of Correctional Services instituted the 1 9 dual diagnosis offender program at the Waterloo 1 10 residential facility to treat male offenders suffering 1 11 from both mental health and substance abuse disorders; 1 12 and 1 13 WHEREAS, treatment in the dual diagnosis offender 1 14 program focuses upon enhancing the potential of the 1 15 offender by facilitating the establishment of a law= 1 16 abiding lifestyle with a stabilized mental condition 1 17 free of chemical dependency; and 1 18 WHEREAS, on January 14, 2004, the American 1 19 Correctional Association presented the exemplary 1 20 offender program award to the First Judicial District 1 21 Department of Correctional Services in recognition of 1 22 its demonstrated success through the dual diagnosis 1 23 offender program; NOW THEREFORE, 1 24 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, 1 25 That the House of Representatives recognize and honor 1 26 the First Judicial District Department of Correctional 1 27 Services for its success with the dual diagnosis 1 28 offender program and its receipt of the exemplary 1 29 offender program award; and 1 30 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That, upon adoption, the 2 1 Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives shall 2 2 prepare official copies of this Resolution and send it 2 3 to Gary Maynard, Director of the Iowa Department of 2 4 Corrections, and to Daniel Craig, District Director of 2 5 the First Judicial District Department of Correctional 2 6 Services. 2 7 LSB 5924HH 80 2 8 kk/pj/5
