  1  2    BY  FOEGE, D. TAYLOR, T. TAYLOR, DANDEKAR, HOGG,
  1  3      LENSING, MASCHER, JACOBY, PAULSEN, and ELGIN
  1  4 A Resolution honoring Dr. Norm Nielsen, President of
  1  5    Kirkwood Community College.
  1  6    WHEREAS, Dr. Norm Nielsen has announced his
  1  7 retirement next January as President of Kirkwood
  1  8 Community College; and
  1  9    WHEREAS, Dr. Nielsen has guided the community
  1 10 college for 26 years; and
  1 11    WHEREAS, under his tenure, Kirkwood Community
  1 12 College has grown to be the largest community college
  1 13 in Iowa and the third largest institution of higher
  1 14 learning in the state; and
  1 15    WHEREAS, the community college is renowned across
  1 16 the nation for its innovative partnerships and
  1 17 alliances with private industry, government, and other
  1 18 educational entities; and
  1 19    WHEREAS, Kirkwood Community College has won
  1 20 regional and national acclaim in the past 25 years,
  1 21 including being one of only 18 community colleges in
  1 22 the United States and Canada named to the League of
  1 23 Innovation; and
  1 24    WHEREAS, Kirkwood Community College was named
  1 25 Community College of the Year for 2000=2001 by the
  1 26 National Alliance of Business; and
  1 27    WHEREAS, Dr. Nielsen has received many honors,
  1 28 including being named the top college CEO of the Year
  1 29 in 2002; NOW THEREFORE,
  1 30    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
  2  1 That the House of Representatives recognizes Dr. Norm
  2  2 Nielsen for his efforts on behalf of Kirkwood
  2  3 Community College, its students, and the State of
  2  4 Iowa, and expresses its gratitude for his tireless
  2  5 efforts in making Kirkwood Community College one of
  2  6 the finest institutions of higher learning in the
  2  7 state and nation; and
  2  8    BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That upon passage, the
  2  9 Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives shall
  2 10 cause an official copy of this Resolution to be
  2 11 prepared for presentation to Dr. Norm Nielsen,
  2 12 President of Kirkwood Community College.
