  1  1    Section 1.  NEW SECTION.  12.87  PENSION ADVOCATE.
  1  2    The treasurer shall appoint a pension advocate within the
  1  3 office of the treasurer to provide assistance and information
  1  4 to Iowans concerning public and private sector pension plans.
  1  5 The pension advocate shall provide information concerning the
  1  6 operation of public and private pensions and shall assist
  1  7 Iowans in receiving information and resolving disputes
  1  8 concerning their pensions.  The pension advocate shall
  1  9 establish processes and procedures to provide the greatest
  1 10 possible access to pension information by Iowans.  The pension
  1 11 advocate shall prepare an annual report concerning pensions
  1 12 and shall recommend legislation, as deemed appropriate,
  1 13 related to pensions.
  1 14                           EXPLANATION
  1 15    This bill provides that the treasurer of state shall
  1 16 appoint a pension advocate within the office of the treasurer.
  1 17 The bill provides that the duties of the pension advocate are
  1 18 to provide assistance and information to Iowans concerning
  1 19 public and private pensions.  The bill provides that the
  1 20 pension advocate shall prepare an annual report concerning
  1 21 pensions and recommend legislation related to pensions.
