  1  1    Section 1.  ASSISTED LIVING AND ADULT DAY CARE TASK FORCE
  1  2 == ESTABLISHED == REPORT.  The department of elder affairs
  1  3 shall convene a task force comprised of representatives of the
  1  4 department of elder affairs, the department of inspections and
  1  5 appeals, providers of assisted living and adult day care
  1  6 services, area agencies on aging, and consumers of assisted
  1  7 living or adult day care services, to make recommendations
  1  8 regarding a comprehensive, consistent regulatory system for
  1  9 assisted living and adult day care in the state.  The
  1 10 recommendations shall also include a funding mechanism to
  1 11 support inspection and enforcement activities related to
  1 12 assisted living and adult day care.  The task force shall
  1 13 submit a report of its recommendations to the governor and the
  1 14 general assembly no later than December 1, 2003.
  1 15                           EXPLANATION
  1 16    This bill directs the department of elder affairs to
  1 17 convene a task force to make recommendations regarding a
  1 18 comprehensive, consistent regulatory system for assisted
  1 19 living and adult day care in the state.  The task force is to
  1 20 be comprised of representatives of the department of elder
  1 21 affairs, the department of inspections and appeals, providers
  1 22 of assisted living and adult day care services, area agencies
  1 23 on aging, and consumers of assisted living or adult day care
  1 24 services.  The recommendations are to include a funding
  1 25 mechanism to support inspection and enforcement activities.
  1 26 The report of the task force is to be submitted to the
  1 27 governor and the general assembly no later than December 1,
  1 28 2003.
